GIVING BACK
We make money. Not a lot. But enough that we can share some with people in need. Here are a few of the ways that Steeltown gives back to the community.
We encourage you to click through to these brave and important initiatives and continue your own education about how you can help.

MOVEMBER CANADA
in support of prostate cancer research and men's suicide prevention
Since our first Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in 2017, we've been raising money for men's mental and physical health. As the official Hamilton ride host, our owner Jeff Campagna has organized the yearly motorcycle ride with a focus on awareness and fundraising.
To date, our local Hamilton ride has raised over $1 million dollars for men's health.

THE GORD DOWNIE & CHANIE WENJACK FUND
in support of meaningful reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples of Canada
On July 1st, we donated 100% of the profits of our in-store and online sales to the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack fund because we believe that, as Canadians, we can all do a better job of acknowledging our country's past abuse of indigenous peoples through the tragic 100+ year long residential school system and strive for meaningful and respectful reconciliation.

THE INTERVAL HOUSE OF HAMILTON
providing emergency shelter, safety planning and support services for women and children that have experienced abuse or violence
Although we donate on a national and international level, it's important to us that the courageous social organizations within our local Hamilton community are getting the funding they need to continue to operate. Through special event raffles, we've raised thousands of dollars in support of The Interval House of Hamilton.

THE MINNESOTA FREEDOM FUND
striving to end discriminatory, coercive, and oppressive jailing and helping those who cannot afford to pay unfair criminal bail and immigration bonds
In the wake of the George Floyd tragedy, we donated an entire days profits from in-store and online sales to The Minnesota Freedom Fund to support those who were being unfairly arrested and held during the protests and demonstrations that erupted as a result of the injustice.

FOOD 4 KIDS HAMILTON
providing healthy food to kids in Hamilton who go without it
There are 1,300 kids in Hamilton with limited or no access to food each weekend. During the 2020 holiday season, an Instagram post about our 20,000 follower milestone went viral within our community. We gave away a $200 gift card and matched it with a $200 donation to Food 4 Kids Hamilton. Within hours, we had raised an additional $1,300 from generous customers and followers who also wanted to support.

THE URBAN ALLIANCE ON RACE RELATIONS
providing educational programs and research addressing racism in society
As the protests and demonstrations in the wake of George Floyd's murder spread around the world, and erupted even here in Canada, we chose to donate another day's profits from both in-store and online sales to a more localized initiative supporting education and race relations.
