SOUND⚡WAVES | Vol #27

SOUND⚡WAVES | Vol #27

When DJ Waves said she wanted to make a chilled out reggae mix for Volume #27 of SOUND⚡WAVES we had no idea that just a few days later the music world would be rocked by the news of Lee 'Scratch" Perry's death. The monumental reggae singer, producer and studio wizard pushed the boundaries of Jamaican music — and as a byproduct, rock, hip-hop and dance — into new musical horizons.
But this is in no way a Lee Perry playlist. In fact, there's only two tracks from him in the mix (though his fingerprints can be felt on plenty of other tracks). Instead, it's more of a broad look at reggae and dub music in general — from Sister Nancy all the way to Snow.
Featuring Lee "Scratch" Perry, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Toots & The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Carol Cool, Snow, King Tubby, Marcia Aitken, Shaggy, Budgie and more.

Visting a Custom Minibike Garage in Osaka, Japan

On the fringes of Osaka's chaotic downtown core is a rad little garage, making rad little bikes specifically a custom raw metal Honda Dax which has enjoyed some serious attention and popularity on social media since Hoy, the garage's owner, completed it two years ago.

Tokyo's Coffee Shop Time Machine

Since its inception in 1948, Cafe de L’Ambre has defied the passage of time. It exists to this day as a monument to exceptional coffee that is roasted, brewed and served in its own unique way according to the processes and standards established by its late founder, Ichiro Sekiguchi, a centenarian who died in 2018 at 103.
