It was a hot, sticky Saturday in early July. 1968. Just outside Hamilton city limits, on a dry heap of land in Copetown, a handful of brave souls readied themselves for the first ever Hamilton Hill Climb. Spectators and sponsors were in short supply. It wasn't an event to show off. The sole purpose was for each rider to attempt to get to the top of the hill in as little time, with as little pomp and circumstance as possible.
Engines and heart rates revved high. Knuckles were whitened under tight grip. And plenty of motorcycles (and riders) came a tumblin' back down the steep incline going ass over tea kettle.
Okay, okay. Full disclosure. This event never actually happened. But we sure as hell wish it did!
